My Rallye project

LET ME TELL YOU A STORY ABOUT “THE BUGGY” FIRST:

As a child, I have always turned my head around when my neighbor passed by with his buggy. After a few years i have got employed. That was meant regular financial income, which lead to the decision to make my own buggy. In the advertisement, I found the buggy for restoring and the decision was made. Unfortunately, the seller M.J. was not fair and in my euphoria I bought a bucket without a-test and engine documents. This was leading to a completely new decision: let’s go and start from the beginning. First person who helped me was Mr. Evstahij Mesojedec with a plans how to shorten the bug chassis and was assured me that he will help me with the a-test. I also have to thank to my friends; Silvester, David, Erik and Janez(r.i.p.), who at that time unselfishly helped me. The project has been dragging for three years. First, it was necessary to get a good chassis. chassis was found and the same time i was saved the wraped beatle from the scrapyard. Next job was to shorten the chassis in “z” and “u” form, so the both half could be stacked in the right position for welding. The lateral parts was added to Karman AHS IMP shell. The next step was to prepared it for coloring. During this time, I made a kind of garage in which it was a little easier to work under the roof than before in the clandestine starting time when I started on the grass … At that time in ex-Yugoslavia used parts was not laying around, so the collection and searching for parts took a lot of my time and money. Creativity, ideas and fantasy wasn’t help me, because, as we say, “from shit you can not make a flute”. With a lot of denial, I put the buggy on the road and the moment when I made a first test drive will never fade. Looking back, I made the work with which I am satisfied – with the finances, knowledge, space and available parts at that time; nowadays, of course, my project would be 1500% better. As a VW Bug Club, we took part in the VW Radunno – Trevisio and collected three cups in the overall classification. The only thing I regret is that I did not enjoyed more driving her. Certainly a beautiful and good life experience.

The installation of aluminium wheels on the bug demanded longer screws. At 1989 this was not so easy to find in ex-Yugoslavia, I was relieved when i have found those extended screws at the vw service in Italy. Of course I have also paid for them…

When the trader saw that the price of screws is a lot of money for me, he gave me the volkswagen’s calendar. At one month (can’t remember which one) there was a photo of rallye. Well, I don’t know if this was love at first glance or not, but the fact is that almost two decades later I became the owner of a rallye, which I have been maintaining and processing now for years. I am equipping her according to my own taste and financial capabilities. Rallye is my car for pleasure and relaxation in my leisure time. she has never been and will not be daily. Rallye is stacked according to my wishes and my taste, and all the processing is done at the way that nothing is destroyed and can be restored in the original factory condition let’s say, within one week. Garage statements, polished wheels, no snow and rain, and similar thoughts leave me dead cold. I drive her exactly as much km/h as it fits for me, nothing more and nothing less. The world is big and open, and all those “I would” have all the possibilities open to acquire her and do with her what they want and what they wish. ….Easy with a foreign dick wrapped in nettles.

Time shows if a decisions was correct or not, it’s exactlly how I wanted her. there are the things that will be repaired, there are many things that are still missing and will be procured. Life demands its own so the rally is definitely not the first on the stage and it will never be. But don’t worry the dust will not cover it. There are ideas and visions too. Everything at the right time…
